What clients have written to us

TH

Tan Hui Ling

Managing Director, Kuching

We commissioned a Market Field Study before entering a new distribution category in Sarawak. The study changed several assumptions we had held for a long time β€” not in a dramatic way, but in the kind of quiet, specific way that makes a real difference to how you set up a business. The writing was clear and the observations were honest, including about areas where our question was harder to answer than we had expected.

Razif Azhari

Founder, Miri

I started with a Field Note on a question I had been turning over for months. Three weeks later I had a fifteen-hundred-word note that settled the question clearly enough to decide what to do. The turnaround was exactly as described. I have since commissioned a fuller study and the same standard of care applied throughout. The midpoint check-in was useful β€” it caught an assumption in our original scope that needed adjusting.

Shirley Lau

COO, Kota Kinabalu

The Customer Listening engagement told us things our internal satisfaction process had never surfaced. Some of it was uncomfortable to read. One section of the summary described a pattern in how customers talked about our response times that we had simply not seen in our own data. The fact that Lumvor Partners will not soften these findings to make a client more comfortable is the most valuable thing about their work.

Mohd Kamarul

Director, Kuching

We are a family business and had never commissioned external research before. I was not sure what to expect. What we received was a written study that a non-researcher could read and act on. It was not full of jargon. The team was available throughout the engagement and the delivery session gave us an opportunity to ask questions about the parts we wanted to understand better. I would recommend them to anyone in a similar position.

Cindy Wong

Business Owner, Sibu

The Field Note was exactly what I needed β€” focused, fast, and honest. I asked a specific question about how small traders in our category in Sibu were thinking about their purchasing decisions this year. The written note covered the question directly and included a section on what participants did not know or were uncertain about, which was useful context I had not expected. The confidentiality was maintained throughout.

Ibrahim Noh

CEO, Kuala Lumpur

We engaged Lumvor Partners to understand a customer segment in Sarawak that we knew was important but had never directly studied. The study they produced was the first piece of primary research we have had on that customer group. The fact that they could conduct interviews in Iban as well as Malay and Mandarin extended the range of participants significantly. We refer back to the written study regularly, nine months later.

β€” Case Studies

Three engagements in more detail

Case Study 01 Β· Market Field Study

The Challenge

A Kuching-based distributor was considering expanding into a new product category across several interior Sarawak towns. Available data from the category association was sparse and several years old. The firm needed to understand how local merchants and end-users actually engaged with the category.

The Work

We conducted 26 in-person interviews across four towns β€” with retailers, end-users, and two existing distributors. We spent time observing trading patterns in the largest market in each location. The full study took thirteen weeks.

The Outcome

The study identified a smaller initial opportunity than the firm had estimated but noted a specific unmet need that no existing supplier was addressing. The firm entered the category with a modified offer and reached early profitability within eight months of launch.

Case Study 02 Β· Customer Listening

The Challenge

A service firm operating in Kota Kinabalu had noticed that client renewals had softened over eighteen months. Internal feedback data did not point to a clear cause. The leadership suspected something was shifting in client perception but could not identify it from within.

The Work

We conducted 11 listening sessions with current and lapsed clients β€” all conducted in person, at locations of the participants' choosing. The summary covered both what clients said directly and the patterns we observed across the conversations as a whole.

The Outcome

The summary identified two consistent themes that had not appeared in the firm's own surveys. The leadership addressed one immediately and redesigned their client communication process around the second. Renewal rates stabilised in the following quarter.

Case Study 03 Β· Field Note

The Challenge

A founder based in Kuala Lumpur was considering whether to open a representative office in Kuching. She had one specific question: were the kinds of clients she served in the peninsula present in sufficient numbers and at a sufficient stage of development in Sarawak to justify the cost?

The Work

We conducted six targeted interviews with firms in Kuching and Miri that matched the profile of the founder's existing clients. The Field Note was delivered in seventeen days from the point of agreed scope.

The Outcome

The note indicated that suitable clients existed but in lower density than the peninsula, and that a remote or part-time representation might serve the market better than a full office at this stage. The founder deferred the office and instead travelled quarterly, using the note as a planning document.
